Bio
Vasco Monteiro (1982, Portugal) is a film director, editor and scriptwriter working mostly on the field of documentary and community-based cinema. He has a particular interest in how we understand the challenges of the Anthropocene, articulating themes of ecology, deep time, community and memory. He holds a graduation in screenwriting (ESTC - 2005), a master's degree with merit in documentary film (ESMAD- 2023) and is currently undertaking a Phd in Film Studies (UC-FLUC). He's been screened and awarded in several film festivals around the globe and is now working on two long-feature documentaries. He also works frequently as a screenwriter with film producers such as Ukbar, Olhar de Ulises, SP Televisão, Santa Rita or Madame Filmes. In addition, he's also a film editor, a tutor and promoter of several collective films projects.
